Philosophy that helped me to stop smoking!!

Let me share with you guys the philosophy that helped me to stop smoking.

The first thing one needs to stop smoking is the will and desire.

First, ask yourself, do you really want to stop smoking or not!

Ask yourself, if you love yourself or not?

A man or a woman who does not have any self-love; is very dangerous to have any association with. Because at the end of the day, the one who causes self-harm for his own desires can cause harm to others. Think of your family and friends! Think of what will happen to them if something bad happens to you.

Take control of your desires: If a little tobacco stick has control over you then you are very easily manipulatable. Take control of your desires. Be your own man. Don’t let any materialistic things control your emotions. The man who can not control his desires is hardly a man.

Fear your creator: Anything and everything that causes self-harm is not permissible in Islam. And smoking is a way to slowly poisoning yourself. It is knowingly causing harm to yourself; which is “haram”. If a little tobacco stick can cause issues to follow the order of your creator then according to this analogy Satan won’t need much effort to misguide you in this life.

Steps to stop smoking that I followed:

  1. Determine that you will stop and nothing can stop you from stopping smoking.

  2. Make a routine. Don’t stop suddenly. Make a daily plan. Plan, how many cigarettes you will consume daily. E.G: What I did was, I created a plan for one month. In the first week, I rationed 3 cigarettes for myself. Those I will consume when I need them most. I used to smoke 1 in the afternoon and 1 after dinner and 1 at midnight. I promised not to smoke with any friends and for recreational purposes. In the second week, I rationed 2 cigarettes for me. I gave up smoking at midnight and I started to go to bed early within 11 PM. In the third week, I gave up one more and stopped smoking in the afternoon. I began to exercise when I used to smoke to get rid of the thought of smoking. In last week, I gave up the one which is used to smoke after dinner. It was the toughest one but my willpower was tougher than my desire.

  3. Yes, I relapsed 3 times after that. Once in the next week. Once after a month, and once a when I went through a very stressful time. After, I relapsed I felt weak. I felt hopeless for a long 1 minute but I realized that this my inner Shatan who is just enticing me, It fears my will, so it tries to entice me when I am stressed and when I feel like I am weak. But I am not weak. I slapped it in its face and kept going. For long 2 years, I kept all my cravings for smoking under control. Now, I am my own man. Nothing has control over me. I feel confident than ever.

  4. Make a daily workout routine. It helped me a lot. Cardio workout makes you realize how much damage you have done to your inner organs. Download some cardio workout routine and start practicing. I have divided my weekly workout routine into cardio, full-body workout, and calisthenic workout.

This is what helped me. I followed this philosophy which helped me a lot to overcome my bad habits. If you are smoking, I beg you please stop now. Lastly, love your family. For the love of them with the fear of God, I was able to stop smoking. Don’t kill yourself selfishly.
